With this release, we removed these requirements for contractor-only entities.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>What it does:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Allows platforms to onboard businesses that do not yet have W-2 employees.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Why it matters:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Many new companies start by employing contractors only at first, before hiring W-2 employees.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/embedded.gusto.com\/blog\/contractor-only-pay-gusto-embedded\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read the full post<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reasonable Salary Calculator API<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Released October 2025<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">S Corporation owners are required by the IRS to pay themselves a &#8220;reasonable salary&#8221; before taking distributions. Determining this figure is often a manual process for accountants and business owners.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>What it does:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The new API uses Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data to generate salary estimates based on role, location, and experience level.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Why it matters:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It provides a data-backed starting point for salary distributions, helping partners support S Corp compliance directly within their application.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/embedded.gusto.com\/blog\/reasonable-salary-calculator-api-s-corp\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read the full post<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Integrating with the Rest of the Payroll-Adjacent Stack<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Connecting payroll data to the rest of a business&#8217;s financial stack was a priority this year. We released updates to streamline how data flows into accounting ledgers and retirement plans.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accounting Integration Flows &amp; General Ledger API<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Released July 2025<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We introduced two methods for syncing payroll data with accounting software:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Pre-built UI Flows:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A low-code option that handles authentication and field mapping for Xero and QuickBooks Online.
