Gusto Embedded Engineering has been hard at work making improvements to our platform. As we wrap up the year we’re excited to announce a new exciting feature that is truly differentiating in the embedded payroll space. Read on to learn more!

New Prebuilt UI Flow for External Benefits

Up until now, when adding benefits into payroll a developer’s only option was a direct build to the Gusto Embedded Payroll API. Although completely doable, it’s complex due to the many different types of benefits each with their own tax treatments and configuration options. In order to make the lives of embedded payroll partners easier we’ve introduced our new Prebuilt Benefits Flow. We’ve dramatically reduced complexity and the time it takes you to incorporate benefit contributions and deductions into your build, which greatly improves the development experience. It also allows you to go to market faster while creating a clear and concise user experience for customers. Benefits are required for accurate and compliant payroll, and our new Benefits Flow will give users that piece of mind.

Use the Benefits Flow to enter information for any benefit managed by any tool or broker. If your customers have Gusto managed benefits there is no entry needed and we will account for those deductions automatically.

What’s included?

Our new Prebuilt Benefits UI Flow tracks more than 30 unique benefits including health, savings & retirement, transportation, wellness, and more. The list includes:

  • 401(k)
  • 403(b)
  • 529 College Savings

How it works?

To see the new Flow in action or to follow along with the prompts below, visit our Create a Demo Flow page

First, you’ll go to the create a demo flow page and select “Benefits” from the Select a Type drop-down menu.

Then you’ll add a benefit by selecting it from the benefit drop down list and give it a name, which is the name that will appear on employee pay stubs and in your customer’s records.

Next, you’ll select the employees you’d like to add to the benefit plan and enter both the employee and employer contribution.

And that’s it! You’re done. If you need to edit an individual’s benefit information to change a benefit contribution or to pause a deduction, simply hover over their name and select “Edit employee benefit”. You can also remove the employee by selecting “Remove from benefit”.
